I am thinking maybe you have other technical issues with the notebook. The RTLbe is the same in my Pavilion notebook and its not a great card to begin with. HP has a habit of installing these cheaper wifi cards in their notebooks as default. I am having issues myself but more so with signal quality and not total failure of card.
